Injured Hamburg roofer accepts $5.5 million

A Hamburg roofer who suffered back injuries and fractures to both feet when he fell 40 feet from a collapsing ladder at a Buffalo public school renovation job has agreed to a $5.5 million settlement in his case against the school system and a Cheektowaga contracting concern, his attorneys said.

********, a union roofer, was working for All Weather at Bennett Park Montessori Center at 342 Clinton St. when his ladder collapsed and he fell 40 feet onto a lower roof on July 16, 1999. He fractured his right heel and left ankle and suffered back injuries.

The settlement offer came after a jury had been selected for a trial in State Supreme Court, they said. – The Buffalo News
